They were the best and most important team Detroit has ever and probably will ever have. They lived in the community. Many of them were from the community. They were us. Shoot, the '68 Tigers came to Trenton High to play basketball against our teachers and then showed the highlight reel of the season in the auditorium and signed autographs. We were so fortunate to grow up then.
